Cumberland – J. Robbins Arnold, 85, of Diamond Hill Road, died Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Woonsocket Health Center, Woonsocket, surrounded by his loving family. He was the loving husband of sixty years of Carolyn (Betts) Arnold.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph J. and Dorothy (Wood) Arnold, he had lived in Cumberland for the past sixty-two years.
Mr. Arnold originally worked for his family business, Arnold’s Lonsdale Bakery, and later worked for the Pawtucket Savings & Trust, retiring as Vice President.
He was an active member of Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, Cumberland, where he served as a Trustee for many years. He was also a member and past chairman of the Board of Directors at the Pawtucket Day Nursery. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Jennifer Hunt of Cumberland; Rebecca Power of Nashua, New Hampshire, and Sarah Fuller of Cumberland; and ten grandchildren. He was the father of the late Elizabeth Pappas.
A Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will be celebrated Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Arnold Mills United Methodist Church, 690 Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Private burial will be in the Stearns Memorial Section of Arnold Mills Cemetery, Cumberland. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Arnold Mills United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 690 Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland, R.I. 02864 would be appreciated.
