North Providence - Iliana M. Champagne-Knowles, 65, of Campbell Avenue, died Friday, January 19, 2024 at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of William C. Knowles, Jr., to whom she had been married for the past twenty years.
Born in the Dominican Republic, a daughter of the late Rafael and Maria Encarnacion, she had lived in North Providence for the past ten years, previously residing in Pawtucket.
Mrs. Knowles worked as a supervisory clerk for the State of Rhode Island's Workers' Compensation Court, retiring last year. She was proud to be selected to serve on the Committee for Women & Minorities.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Donald Champagne, and his wife Stephanie, of Orlando, Florida; two step-children, Amanda Knowles of East Providence and Derek Knowles of Central Falls; and three sisters, Milagros Encarnacion of the Dominican Republic, Altagracia de la Rosa of Jacksonville, and Nereyda Vasquez of North Providence.
Her funeral will be celebrated Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 10:00 am in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours on Tuesday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm.
