Providence – I. Terrence “Terry” Thompson, 78 of Providence passed away peacefully Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Steere House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Providence.
Born in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Irving and Miriam (Garnet Lightcap) Thompson, he had live in Providence for the past 42 years.
Mr. Thompson was a professor at Johnson & Wales University before retiring. He was a Director of Culinary Arts at Rhode Island School of Design, and he was a member of the Chain of Rotissiere, the Escophier Society and the American Culinary Federation. He also was a security guard at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Johnson & Wales University.
Professor Thompson was a lifelong Boy Scout and a member of the Order of Arrow. He was a Silver Beaver Recipient.
He is survived by one sister, Carol Lee and one brother, Jeffrey Thompson, both of Pennsylvania; and his dear friend, Joseph J. Swinski III of Cranston.
His Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, August 6 at 6 P.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. His burial will be private.
