Gerald Carney Obituary

Gerald V. “Jerry” Carney, 90, of Lincoln passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2023. He was the devoted husband of Irene (Ledoux) Carney. They were happily married for 67 years.  Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Edward and Helen (Almond) Carney. He grew up in Pawtucket and moved to Lincoln in 1965 and wintered in Naples, FL., after retiring.

Jerry graduated from Pawtucket East High School, and he served his country during the Korean War with the US Marine Corps. Jerry worked for the Johnson O’Hare Company or as it is more commonly known, JOH for 32 years where he retired as Senior VP of Sales in 1997. Jerry was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his family.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Helen McIntosh, and Patricia Coleman and two brothers, James, and William Carney.

Besides his beloved wife Irene, he is survived by his three loving children, Celeste L. Carney of Smithfield, Helen P. Carney of Lincoln, and Gerald V. “Jay” Carney, Jr., of Boston, MA.  He is also survived by two brothers, Robert Carney of Pawtucket, and John Carney of Lincoln.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 19. 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln.  Relatives and friends are invited and may call at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln from 8:30-9:30 a.m.  Burial will be private.
