Georgia Moretti, formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Wednesday June 4 at Bethany Home in Providence, RI. Her family and those at Bethany Home cared for her lovingly and she will be sorely missed by anyone who knew her.
She was a lifelong member of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Pawtucket, RI. She was a member of the St. Barbara Ladies Philoptochos Society throughout all her adult years and a choir member in her younger days. She cherished her family, faith and her Greek heritage. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Paraskeve Pappas (Pappodopoulas).
She leaves two sisters, Anastasia DeLuca,(her late husband Rocco ) and Vernie Pappas. She was pre-deceased by her brothers William Pappas, his wife Bertha and two sons, Michael and Stephen and daughter Karen Pappas, Theodore A. Pappas and his wife Tula, Michael Pappas and his wife Enid, Nicholas Pappas and his wife Theresa, and Alex Pappas.
She leaves her cherished nieces and nephew Vikki Kizirian and husband Thomas, Andrew T. Pappas his wife Holly, and Carol Pappas and her husband Robert McIntyre. She raised them from childhood when her sister-in-law passed away suddenly. She also leaves her many beloved nieces and nephews. Pamela Doheny and husband Frank, Gregg Pappas and wife Chris, Rocco DeLuca and wife AnnMarie, Melissa Farrara and husband Kenny, Marc Pappas and wife Cheryl, Deborah Owens and husband Dennis and Alex's daughter Susan.
She leaves many great nieces and nephews and so many others who were like family to her.
Georgia enjoyed life to the fullest and loved golfing, bingo, and baking, especially for the church festival! She was a dynamo and you always knew where you stood with her! She would do anything for anybody and was a selfless and loyal friend. She was known as Auntie Georgia by so many-she just made you feel like family!
A Funeral Liturgy will be held Monday, June 16, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Building Fund of the Assumption Church, 97 Walcott Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.
