G. Stephen Marshall

January 25, 1954 ~ December 13, 2020 (age 66)


Cumberland – G. Stephen Marshall, 66, of Mimosa Court, died Sunday, December 13, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Cynthia (Gilbert) Marshall.  Mr. & Mrs. Marshall had been married for forty-three years.

Born in Central Falls, a son of the late George W. and Marjorie (Aspinwall) Marshall, he had lived in Cumberland for most of his life.

Mr. Marshall worked as a computer programmer in the insurance industry, first working for Amica Insurance Co., and later for the Medical Information Bureau, retiring as Vice President of Sales.

A true outdoorsman, he was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed woodworking.  Steve was always involved with his children’s activities as a hockey and baseball coach, as a swim dad, and as a cub scout leader for Troop 1 Arnold Mills.  He was a communicant of Saint John Vianney Church, Cumberland.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Lindsey Gray, and her husband Robert, of New York, New York., and Kirby Hartmann, and her husband Kevin, of Cumberland; one son, William Marshall, and his wife Jan, of Richmond, Virginia; two brothers, Bruce R. Marshall of Bridgton, Maine, and Alan C. Marshall of Incline Village, Nevada; and six grandchildren, Gabrielle Marshall, Ryan Marshall, Eliza Gray, Cecilia Gray, Mackenzie Hartmann, and Henry Hartmann. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and a very large group of loving and caring friends.

A celebration of his life will be held in the spring.  Private burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Prostate Cancer Foundation, 1250 Fourth Street, Santa Monica, CA 90401 would be appreciated.  For online guest book, please visit  Arrangements with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
