Pawtucket – Frank F. Gardner, 75, of Oakdale Avenue, died Monday, January 17, 2022, at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Lynette E. (Jackson) Gardner. Mr. & Mrs. Gardner had been married for fifty-one years.
Born in Carmel, California, a son of the late William and Bertha (Foster) Gardner, he had lived most of his life in Pawtucket.
Mr. Gardner was a machinist at the Foxboro Company, retiring in 2004. He later went to work as a groundskeeper at Pawtucket Country Club until 2017.
Frank was a hard worker, always doing some sort of work every day from morning until night. In his free time, he performed a lot of odd jobs for many people. He was a generous man who loved to cook for his neighbors, a talent he learned from his time in the Navy. His family was his life, and enjoyed spending time taking care of them. A skilled carpenter and woodworker, he was also an outdoorsman who loved to go hunting, saltwater fishing and trapping.
He was a Seaman in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, serving on the U.S.S. John King, and was a member of the Major Walter G. Gatchell Post #306 V.F.W., Pawtucket, a member of the Garfield Social Club, Central Falls, a member of the Alsace Association, Reading, Pennsylvania, and a parishioner of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Pawtucket.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Tracy S. Bryden of Warwick and Nyree O’Donald of Stetson, Maine; six grandchildren, Devon Bryden, Samantha Harnois, Scott Dion, David O’Donald, Megan O’Donald and Etienne O’Donald; three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late Justin Bryden, and the brother of the late Margo Gardner and Pamela Peters.
