Francis Dupuis Obituary

Lincoln - Francis X. Dupuis, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 4, 2021, at his home in Lincoln surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Stromberg) Dupuis for 58 years before she passed away in 2015.  Born in Pawtucket, he was son of the late Ernest and Pauline (Beaupré) Dupuis and brother of the late Paula Bouris.

Frank grew up in Pawtucket.  He graduated from St. John's Preparatory School in Danvers, MA.  After high school he attended Fordham University in New York and then completed his education at Bryant College in Providence where he received a degree in business.  He went on to work for the business that had been started by his grandfather in Pawtucket in 1898, known in 1970 as the Dupuis Oil Company.  He was co-owner of the company with his brother, Ernie, from 1970 to 1988, when he became sole owner until retirement in 1999.  He served as president of the Oil Heat Institute of Rhode Island from 1991 to 1993 and was placed in the Institute's Hall of Fame in 1999.

As a young boy, Frank enjoyed spending summers in Bristol at his family's home on the Kickemuit River.  As an adult he cherished spending time at his summer home on Martha's Vineyard.  He also enjoyed exploring with his family, taking cruises and frequent visits to the Berkshires, the Carolinas and Georgia, and the UK.

Frank had a lifelong interest in thoroughbred racing and for years was involved with a group of friends who travelled to Saratoga for the racing season.  A highlight for the group was owning a beloved horse named Oscar Winner.  On the first Saturday in May, friends and family knew exactly where to find him.

Frank is survived by his six loving children (and eight grandchildren) Frank X. Dupuis III and his wife Christine (Frank, Christien) of Greenville; Michelle Dupuis of Lincoln; Paul Dupuis and his wife Suzanne (Alexander, Nicole, Phillip, Emily) of North Smithfield; Renee Dupuis and her husband Walter Shea (Jacqueline “Maxx” Domingos and Savannah Shea) of New Bedford, MA; Elizabeth “Becky” Dupuis of Lincoln and Marc and his wife Amy of Lincoln.  He is also survived by his brothers, Ernest Dupuis of Rehoboth, MA and Edward Dupuis of Pawtucket, along with several nieces and nephews. The family thanks Sizani Mbonambi for the excellent care she provided for Frank.

His funeral service will be held on Friday, July 9 at 11 A.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Pawtucket.
