Frances (Cunningham) Furtado

Smithfield – Frances (Cunningham) Furtado, 87, of Smithfield, died Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Heritage Hills Nursing Center, Smithfield.

Born on December 27, 1932, in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Francis T. and Angela (Buonassisi) Cunningham.

Frances worked for many years at A. Watt & Sons Photo Finishing in Providence, where she developed photos by hand in a darkroom, and she was a server at the old Crown Coffee Shop in Providence and several other local establishments. She was an avid ice skater and talented artist who loved the snow.

She is survived by one daughter, Julia Puleo, and her husband Andrew, of Lincoln; one sister, Bernice Anthony of Coventry; and three grandchildren, Valerie Puleo, Joseph Puleo, and Damien Furtado.  She was the mother of the late Joseph A. Furtado, and the sister of the late Elaine Cunningham, Patricia Massey, Anthony Cunningham, John Cunningham, and Lawrence Cunningham.
