Eugene Fioravanti Obituary

Foster - Gino (Eugene) Fioravanti, of Foster, formerly of Cumberland, died Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at home. He was the beloved husband of the late Gloria (Duhamel) Fioravanti.

Gino was born on April 6, 1926 in Woonsocket, RI, the son of Italian immigrants, the late Ezio and Angela (Simonini) Fioravanti. He was the brother of the late John Monti, Bruna Bressan, Renzo Monti and Anne Baldi. His life of service began when he joined the Rhode Island National Guard, where he served as a squad leader. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1950 from Company B 118th Engineer Combat Battalion.

After his military service, he attended Rhode Island School of Design where he completed a two-year course in textile design and a one-year course in fabric development and weaving. He went onto a distinguished career at French Worsted Company in Woonsocket, designing and setting up new departments. Later he moved to Leviton Manufacturing Company in Warwick, where he worked as a production planner until his retirement in 1988.

He and his wife Gloria of 55 years lived in Cumberland for 49 years and both shared a deep love of big band, 40's music and ballroom dancing. Family remained central to their lives, summers were spent at his sister's house in Galilee enjoying meals and lively conversation and every Sunday after church, Gino and his brother-in-law would enjoy a coffee royal together. After Gloria's passing 8 years ago, Gino moved to Foster to live with his daughter, Deryl and her husband, Bernie Poirier. He is the proud grandfather of 4 grandchildren and their spouses Bryna and Matthew Haynes, Tristan and Lara Poirier, Ana and Greg Coffey, and Caleb and Jackie Poirier. Gino was also blessed with 6 great grandchildren, Elsa (12), Aine (11), Aelyn (8), Arden and Linnaea (5), and Cameryn (3). This March he was the 41st recipient of the prestigious Boston Post Cane, which recognized him as Foster's oldest resident. As a milestone in his life, he wished to live to 100 which was 7 months away.

His funeral will be held Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln with military honors to follow. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours prior to the service from 9:30AM - 11:00 AM.
