Cumberland – Ernest E. Tellier, 74, of Cumberland, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 26, 2020 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was the beloved husband of Claire (LaMontagne) Tellier.
Born in Cumberland, a son of the late Ovila and Gilberte (Desrochers) Tellier, he was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.
Throughout his life, Ernie worked as an accountant, first for Warren Oil, Providence, then for Amperex, North Smithfield, and lastly for CVS Headquarters in Woonsocket.
He was a Vietnam War era veteran and a very patriotic man. He truly loved his country, but was often displeased recently by all the political turmoil in D.C. He was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church, Cumberland.
Ernie was a quiet, humble, kind and thoughtful man. He was a real gentleman with a quick wit and smile. He was a joy to be around and will be greatly missed. But we rejoice in that his many sufferings are over and that, we believe, he is with the Lord at last!
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Joseph Tellier, and his wife Jackie, of Cumberland, and one grandson Brayden Tellier. He is also survived by his sister Connie Martell, and her husband Jerry, and their son Gerard and family; his sister-in-law Dolores Tellier, and her three sons, Richard, Ronald and Roland, and their spouses and children. Ernie also had numerous cousins on both the Desrochers and Tellier sides of the family. On his wife’s side of the family, the LaMontagnes, he is survived by countless in-laws, their children and grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Evan Tellier, and the brother of the late Albert Tellier.
His funeral will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 at 8:45 a.m. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Disabled American Veterans, 380 Westminster Mall, Providence, R.I. 02903, or to St. Antoine Residence, 10 Rhodes Avenue, North Smithfield, R.I. 02896 would be appreciated.
