Woonsocket - Edward M. "Eddie" Roy, Jr., 69, of Woonsocket, died Friday, February 7, 2025 at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Boston. He was the beloved husband of Lois (Dandurand) Roy, with whom he shared fifty-two years of marriage.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of Nancy (Maloney) Roy of Woonsocket, and the late Edward M. Roy, he had resided in Cumberland, moving to Woonsocket forty-seven years ago.
Mr. Roy was a police officer with the Woonsocket Police Department, retiring as Detective Sergeant. Upon retiring from the police department, he worked as the director of security for Cresco Labs, Fall River. He was also a self-employed contractor and woodworker.
Eddie was an avid golfer, and a longtime member of Lincoln Country Club, where he served on the Board of Governors. When he wasn't playing golf, he was always keeping himself busy working on his yard, and fixing his home.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons, Christopher Roy, and his wife Julie, of Lincoln, and Timothy Roy, and his wife Tanya, of Cumberland; his daughter, Jamie Roy of Woonsocket; three sisters, Pamela Rufful of Sarasota, Florida, and Holly Courtemanche and Jennifer Houle, both of Dayville, Connecticut; and eight grandchildren, Kirstie Roy, Amanda Roy, Emily Roy, Eric Roy, Ethan Roy, Elizabeth Roy, Ella Roy, and Kyle Doyle.
His funeral will be held Friday, February 14, 2025 at 9:00 AM from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Family and friends are invited, and may attend visiting hours on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
