Pawtucket - Edward J. Kane, 80, of Belmont Street, died Thursday, January 28, 2021 peacefully at home with his daughter by his side. He was the beloved husband of the late Karen J. (Beavers) Kane.
Born in Cumberland, a son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Buckley) Kane, Eddie lived in Pawtucket for the past forty-three years in the home he and Karen cherished together.
Eddie was a proud U.S. Navy veteran during peacetime. Later, he was an electrician at Carter Electric for many years, retiring in 1993. He was an avid fisherman, loved watching sports, especially the Boston Bruins and the Patriots. He loved his ice cream after every meal and had a passion for his Irish upbringing. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all of his caregivers, especially Gerold Bianco who provided exceptional care to both Karen and Eddie over the past years.
He is survived by his son, Mark Schofield of Jacksonville, Florida and his four children, Jennifer, Alison, Mark Jr. and Emily Schofield of Waterloo, South Carolina; his loving daughter, Sharon Schofield Ribeiro of Providence along with her husband Ronald Ribeiro; He will be greatly missed by Sharon’s four daughters, Elizabeth O’Brien, Catherine Harrison, Alexandra Marble and Kayla Ribeiro. He also leaves behind his four precious great grandchildren, Ava, Noah, Benjamin and Ivy; and his two sisters, Dorothy Letourneau and Margaret Bridge, both of Narragansett. He was the brother of the late Charles Kane and Joseph Kane.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Mary Church, 103 Pine Street, Pawtucket. Burial with military honors will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Relatives and friends are invited. Social distancing will be observed and all guests will be required to wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Beacon Hospice ℅ Amedisys, 1 Catamore Boulevard, East Providence, R.I. 02914 would be appreciated.
