It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Eduino Joaquim Fontes, 81 of Lincoln. He was the beloved husband of Maria E. (Pina) Fontes. Eduino and Maria (Djiny) had been married for forty-six years.
Born in Cova Figueira, Fogo, Cape Verde, a son of the late Joaquim Monteiro Fontes and Clarice Monteiro Fontes, he moved to the United States in 1968, and had lived in Lincoln for the past thirty-four years.
Eduino worked for Durastone Flexicore before he retired. He was a proud member of the Local 271 Laborers Union.
Eduino was extremely handy, always trying to fix things around the house. He enjoyed working in his yard, caring for his lawn, and tending his gardens with his children.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Dr. Adelina Das, and her husband Raja, of Avon, Connecticut; three sons, Eduino Fontes, Jr. of Lincoln, David Fontes, and his wife Tiffany, of Cumberland, and Dr. James Fontes of Providence; four sisters, Carolina Amado of Pawtucket, Matilda Veiga of Pawtucket, Joaquina Fontes of Pawtucket, and Etelvina Fontes of Middleboro, Massachusetts; two brothers, Eduardo Fontes of Dorchester, Massachusetts, and Hipolito Fontes of Central Falls; six grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many cousins.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at 9:00 a.m. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Entombment will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Tuesday, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m.
