Edite B. (Lopes) Rodrigues

Cumberland – Edite B. (Lopes) Rodrigues, 88, of Cumberland passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at Yale-New Haven Hospital, New Haven, Connecticut. She was the wife of the late Celestino A. “Adrian” Rodrigues.

Born in Mangualde, Portugal, a daughter of the late Antonio and Emilia (Lopes) Ferrao, she had lived in Portugal before moving to Cumberland 64 years ago.

Mrs. Rodrigues was a winder for Phillip Braiding in Central Falls, B & D Pull Scanning, and Crystal Thermoplastics in Cumberland before retiring in 1994.

She loved gardening, cooking, especially desserts (rice pudding and apple pie), and walking; and could often be seen around town on her long walks. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with family and making others laugh. She loved being silly.

She was a communicant of the former St. Patrick’s Church, Cumberland.

She is survived by her loving children, Diane Rodrigues of Guilford, CT and Dennis Rodrigues of Cumberland; her beloved grandson, Andrew Rodrigues of Cumberland; her loving sisters, Emilia Duarte of Cumberland and Alzira Moitoso of Central Falls; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Maria Barros, Mabilia Duarte, Helen Duarte, Joaquim Costa and Manuel Ferrao.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, December 27 at 9:00 A.M. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1 Fatima Drive Cumberland. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday from 9:00-10:15 A.M.
