Pawtucket – Donna D. (Abney) Laramee, 57, of Pawtucket passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 31, 2024 at the home of her daughter, Allyson, in Cranston after a courageous two year battle with brain cancer. She was the partner of Charles Dakake of Pawtucket.
Born in Belleville, Illinois, a daughter of Donald Abney of Arkansas and Dolores (Alves) Abney of Central Falls, she had lived in Pawtucket for most of her life.
She was employed by Navigant Credit Union for 13 years, mostly recently as a manager of the Float Team. She loved her Navigant family like her own and was so proud to be part of a team that shared the same love of giving back to the community.
Donna was a Blue Star Mom, proudly supporting not only her two daughters who served in the Navy, but all other Patriots and Veterans. Her love of community, giving back, and helping those less fortunate, shined brightly in all of her work she did with Help the Homeless RI, Children’s Wishes, various churches/soup kitchens, and numerous organizations throughout the years, even throughout her own recent battle. She made a lasting impression on each person she met and her radiant smile and spirit will continue to inspire others for a lifetime. Her legend will live on in her phrase of “Keep Smiling, Keep Shining”.
Besides her parents and her partner, she is survived by her three loving daughters, Allyson Soucy (Joshua) of Cranston, Alicia Desorcy (Jesse) of Pascoag, and Alexandra Laramee (Wyatt) of Warwick; her best friend and sister at heart, Zee Rodrigues of North Kingstown; her three beloved granddaughters, Madison and Piper Chiarini, and Olivia Desorcy; and her two loving grand cats, Jack and Gus.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 6 at 11 A.M. in St. Jude’s Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Her burial will be private.
Relatives and friends may call at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln Monday 4-7 P.M.
