Central Falls- Dolores Azevedo (Alves) Abney, age 79, of Central Falls, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her granddaughters on March 1, after a quick and courageous battle with colon cancer. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved daughter, Donna Laramee.
Born on the beautiful island of Sao Miguel in the Azores and raised in Terceira, she was the daughter of the late Fernando and Rosalina (Azevedo) Alves, she had lived in Rhode Island for most of her adult life. She was the baby of a large beautiful family of 12 children.
She was employed by many small companies over the years, but most notably managed the former Estrella do Mar restaurant in East Providence. She loved her family fiercely and spent many memorable moments traveling to Canada to spend time with all of her siblings and extended family. Dolores had a heart of gold and was always ready to have a good time, whether it was BINGO with friends or dancing at the Portuguese festas. Before the passing of her daughter, you could find Dolores smiling ear to ear on one of their many adventures.
She is survived by her two sisters, Maria (Alves) Teves of Canada and Olga (Alves) Tavares of North Providence; her three granddaughters, Allyson Soucy (Joshua) of Cranston, Alicia Desorcy (Jesse) of Pascoag, and Alexandra Laramee (Wyatt) of Warwick; and her three beloved great granddaughters, Madison and Piper Chiarini, and Olivia Desorcy.
