Woonsocket - Denis H. Tardie, Jr., 86, of Thibeault Avenue, died Saturday, April 15, 2023 at St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was the beloved husband of Pauline C. (Merchant) Tardie. Mr. & Mrs. Tardie had been married for sixty-three years.
Born in Woonsocket, a son of the late Denis H. and Blanche M. (Bernard) Tardie, he had lived in Pascoag for twenty years, and briefly in Kentucky, before moving to Woonsocket over twenty-five years ago.
Mr. Tardie worked in the Parts Department for Nelsons Inc. and Steingold Volvo, and as an automotive fleet mechanic at Sears before retiring.
Denis was a volunteer on the former Nasonville Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, Burrillville, and was a member of the Granite Lodge #33, I.O.O.F., Pascoag. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during peacetime.
He enjoyed working in his yard, and bowling with sons on Sunday bowling leagues at Walnut Hill Bowl. His true passion was collecting pens and watches, and spending time with his family.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his four children, Marc Tardie and his wife Cathy of North Smithfield, Lyle Tardie and his wife Paula of Pawtucket, Wendy Franks of Pawtucket, and Capt. Chris Tardie, LFD, of Cumberland; one sister, Dolores Noury of Pawtucket; one brother, Albert Tardie and his wife Arline of North Providence; four grandchildren; and one great grandson.
His funeral will be held Monday, April 24, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial with military honors will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
