Lincoln – Darlene M. (Magee) Harbeck, 78, of Lincoln died peacefully Friday, October 20, 2023 at Bayview Rehabilitation at Scalabrini, North Kingstown. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond A. Harbeck.
Born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late James H. and Marion E. (Brown) Magee, she had lived in Lincoln for most of her life.
Mrs. Harbeck worked as a seamstress for the former Pawtucket Dress Company, and later as a secretary for the State of Rhode Island Disciplinary Council before retiring.
Darlene loved to travel. She spent many summers in Little Compton and Narragansett and loved walking the beaches there. Her favorite places were Stowe Vermont and York Maine where she loved spending hours going through all the various shops taking the time to notice the details in everything she looked at and then incorporating these ideas into her own beautiful home. She always brought back gifts and treasures from her travels, especially for her grandchildren who were her greatest joy. She enjoyed gardening and of course listening to Jack Edwards commentate the Bruins games.
She is survived by one daughter, Jennifer McCarty and her husband Thomas, of Wakefield; one son, Todd Harbeck, and his wife Mindy, of North Stonington, Connecticut; one sister, Susanne Balasco of Florida; and nine grandchildren Dylan, Colin, Chris and Jack McCarty, Jake, Abbey, and Adam Harbeck and Kyle and Patrick Eichen. She was the sister of the late Kenneth J. Magee.
She will be sadly missed and forever in the hearts of everyone who knew her.
Her funeral and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023 would be appreciated.
