Claire (Thornley) Kaufman

Pawtucket - Claire Thornley Kaufman, 98, formerly of Felsmere Avenue, passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Miriam Hospital, Providence.  She was the beloved wife of the late Martin J. Kaufman.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Charles J. and Florence (Lovely) Thornley, she had lived in Pawtucket for most of her life, moving to East Providence twelve years ago.

Mrs. Kaufman was a former member of Newman Congregational Church, Rumford, where she was a member of the Newman News Ladies, and a member of Seekonk Congregational Church.  She loved all the time she spent with her family, especially her granddaughters and her great grandchildren.  She enjoyed the many years with her neighbors on Felsmere Avenue, and loved animals, especially her grand-dogs, Dexter and Tucker. With her late husband, she enjoyed traveling to numerous National Society of Public Accountants conventions, where she made numerous friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Marsha Kaufman-Cordeiro of Seekonk; two granddaughters Rebecca Kenney, and her husband Raymond, of Seekonk, and Ashley Lambresa, and her husband Paolo, of Peabody, Massachusetts; and three beloved great grandchildren, Jaylyn A. Kenney, Josephine C. Lambresa, and Gaetano J. Lambresa.  She was the mother-in-law of the late John L. Cordeiro, and the sister of the late Barbara Rhynard.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence.  Relatives and friends are invited.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Providence Animal Rescue League, 34 Elbow Street, Providence, R.I. 02903 would be appreciated.  For online guest book, please visit www.bellowsfuneralchapel.com.  Arrangements with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
