North Providence - Cheryl Ann (Pearson) Ruegg, 70, of North Providence entered into eternal glory on September 10, 2022.
Cheryl was born on Cape Cod during a fierce nor’easter which inspired the book and movie The Finest Hours, with 70-foot waves ushering her in as the first child of Earl and Connie (Jones) Pearson.
She was a graduate of NE Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston and worked as a registered nurse for many years in various locations such as RI Hospital and West Point to name a few.
Cheryl was a longtime member of the Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian. She was an avid card writer and sender. She loved her country, the Cape (especially Chatham), and lighthouses. Cheryl would give you the shirt off her back. In fact, she’d give your hairdresser’s cousin’s daughter the shirt off her back as well, since she had a generously giving spirit.
Cheryl was a devoted nurse, daughter, sister, friend, wife, and Christian, but above all else, her greatest joy was realized in the role of “Mommy” to her beloved sons Eric Michael (Lauren) and Jason Thomas (Karlyn) McNeely. She was also the foster mother of Lisa Onotracy (Paul) and stepmother of Erin Baro (Justin), Teresa Rouillard (Shawn), and Christina Boudreau (Tee Jay). Her children provided Cheryl’s other life happiness in the form of grandchildren: Ari, Aidan, Riley, Ian, Dylan, Valancy, Jamie, Clare, Simon, Violet, Eliza, Cecily, Lucy, Lizzie, Casey, and Finlay.
Besides her parents, Cheryl was predeceased by her granddaughter Valancy and husband Jim, both in 2018. She leaves behind her siblings Cindy Pearson (Susan), Chris Dowding (Bob), Charles Pearson (Susan), and Carl Pearson (Angela), as well as numerous nieces and nephews, her in-laws, neighbors, and friends.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Greenwood Community Church, 805 Main Avenue, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made in Cheryl’s memory to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, R.I. 02904 or to K-Love Radio, P.O.
