Charles Yardley Nickerson

Charles Yardley Nickerson, 93 years of age of Edgewater, FL, formerly of East Walpole, MA passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024.

Beloved Son of Charles Fuller Nickerson and Maude (Yardley) Nickerson. Husband of the late Elizabeth Nickerson, and loving father to Jane N. Gruber (Richard) of Lincoln, RI, Charles F. Nickerson of Fall River, MA, Audrey A. Dwane of Greenville, RI, Kenneth P. Nickerson of Dighton, MA and Mark G Nickerson (Robyn) of Swansea, MA, all of whom he shared with his first wife, Georgianna Jordan of Somerset, MA. Along with his loving family and very many friends he leaves behind his church family as well.

Charles lived in East Walpole, MA most of his adult life before permanently residing in Edgewater, Florida 6 years ago.

Charles loved fixing things. Anything mechanical that needed repairing, he would find a way to fix it. He also loved spending the time maintaining his own home from the outside to the inside. He was very active in the community through church events near and far. He especially enjoyed participating in “Habitat for Humanity” in Alaska. He was active in a Billiards League with a number of his good friends. Charles always enjoyed socializing and parties. For many years he was a member and active in the Masonic Lodge.  He was a 32nd degree Mason. Most of all, Charles enjoyed helping people in need. He was always there to lend a helping hand or words of comfort. He had a humble and very positive outlook on life with an amazing sense of humor.

Charles (Nick) leaves behind his beautiful grandchildren, Steven, Robert, Gregory, Ryan, Tara, Diana, Brad and Amy. He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles was the loving older brother of Predeceased George Fuller Nickerson and sister-in-law Esther B. Nickerson.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for September 7, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Martins Church, 50 Orchard Street, Providence, RI 02906 in Charles Y. Nickerson’s name.
