Charles McCabe Obituary

Lincoln – Charles J. McCabe, 82, of Lonsdale Avenue, died Friday, August 6, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Annette (Dumont) McCabe.  Charlie and Annette had been married for fifty- eight years.

Born in Central Falls, he was the son of the late John and Maria (Beausoleil) McCabe.  He had lived in Lincoln for the past fifty- six years.

Charlie worked as and electrician for the Providence Housing Authority and later was appointed head of the Maintenance Department, retiring in 2002.  He was also the Electrical Inspector for the Town of Lincoln for thirty- two years before retiring in 2020.

A United States Army Veteran, he served during peacetime, and was a member of the Howard Rogers Post #25, American Legion, Pawtucket.  He was a communicant of Holy Spirit Parish, Central Falls.

Charlie's greatest joy came from spending time with his family and his twelve grandchildren.  Especially summer days at his summer home on Pascoag Lake where he was well known for buying ice cream from the ice cream truck for the neighborhood. He was an avid reader of newspapers and his Kindle.  He also owned a 1965 Cadillac gifted to him by his son, which won many awards in local car shows.  Charlie was never one to sit still, he was running errands, puttering around and always helping anyone in need.

Anyone who had the privilege of knowing him, knew what an incredible man he truly was.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Christine Beauchemin and her husband Stephen, Robin Letizia and her husband William, both from North Smithfield; one son, Timothy McCabe of Golden, Colorado; and the late Susan (McCabe) Esposito and her surviving husband John Esposito and his wife Diane Cardi Esposito of Cranston; and one sister Marie Marion of Swansea, Massachusetts.

He was also survived by his twelve loving grandchildren, Colin Esposito and his wife Sara, Peter Esposito, Jillian Esposito, Daniel Beauchemin, Aidan Beauchemin, Sammy Beauchemin, Callum McCabe, Ainslee McCabe, Luke Letizia, Wyatt Letizia, Alex Cardi and Tayla Cardi.
