Lincoln - Charles B. Knowlton, 91, formerly of Lincoln, died Thursday, January 7, 2021 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence as a result of complications from COVID-19. He was the husband of the late Barbara (Harris) Knowlton. Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Leroy and Addie (Blackman) Knowlton, he had lived in Lincoln for fifty-six years, moving to Providence two years ago.
Mr. Knowlton was a conductor for thirty-seven years, working for the New Haven Railroad, Penn Central Railroad, Conrail and Amtrak, retiring in 1993. He loved to read, listen to classical music and jazz, and was a fan of the New England Patriots. A U.S. Air Force Veteran, he served as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War.
He is survived by one daughter, Sandra Dion, and her husband Robert, of Lincoln; two sons, Steven Knowlton, and his wife Margaret, of Harrisville, and David Knowlton, and his wife Pamela, of Pascoag; nine grandchildren, Nicole Procter, Patrick Ryan, Matthew Knowlton, Jeffrey Knowlton, Casey Knowlton, Rebekah August, Rachel Jones, Jared Knowlton and Sarah Bellavance; eighteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Leroy Knowlton and Samuel Knowlton.
A graveside service with military honors will be livestreamed on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. on Mr. Knowlton’s online memorial page at www.bellowsfuneralchapel.com.
