North Scituate – Carolyn F. (Turgeon) Shurtleff, 90, formerly of North Scituate, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of Edward L. Shurtleff, and they had recently celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Lionel and Mary (Pelosi) Turgeon, she had lived in North Scituate for fifty-four years. Mrs. Shurtleff was a homemaker who devoted her life to her home and family. She loved to cook, bake and crochet. Every summer for forty years, she camped with her husband at Fort Getty Park in Jamestown, and together they also spent time traveling to Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, and points of interest in the United States..
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Karen Proule of Lincoln; Joan Wolf of Barrington, and Allison Shurtleff-Fraioli of Little Compton; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Leslie Gibbons, and the sister of the late Anita Rossi, Leona Vallese and Edmund Turgeon.
Her funeral and burial will be held at a later date. In lieu flowers, contributions in her memory would be appreciated to The American Diabetes Association or The Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
