Lincoln- Carl Dana Pearson (POP) of Lincoln passed away on March 29, 2023 at the age of 95 after a brief illness.
He married in 1952 and is survived by his wife of 71 years, Rose Marie Matteo Pearson, and his children, Jane C. Wainfor of Lincoln, Steven S. Pearson & wife Dolores of Glocester, Thomas Pearson & wife Natalie of Lincoln, 6 Grandchildren, Chrisopher Wainfor of Narragansett, Jessica Wainfor of Tennesee, Steven Pearson Jr. of Pascoag, Laura Pearson of Chepachet, Ashley Pearson of Cranston, and Mark Pearson of Florida, 3 Great Grandchildren, Melanie Wainfor of West Warwick, Zoey Pearson and Steven Pearson III of Pascoag. He was father to the late Carol Pearson-Reil of Cumberland and brother to the late Ruth Pearson Jackson.
Born Jan 25, 1928 to the late Carl Sigfried Pearson and Solphia Hollgate Pearson he grew up in Pawtucket RI.
Carl Pearson, Seaman First Class U.S.N. was a Veteran of WWII. During the early 1950s, while still in his 20s, he was a race car driver known as AL Pearce. He was a milkman with a local route before becoming a tractor trailer driver. A Proud and active member of Teamster local 251 he contributed to the struggles and victories of its history.
Pop Loved and collected antique cars. He once drove his Model A Ford at about 40 miles an hour from Lincoln to Canada by back roads. He belonged to a High Wheel Bicycle club and rode in local parades
Always a volunteer he worked at Goodwill and delivered food to local food Pantries and Soup Kitchens for many years.
Beloved Husband, dedicated Father and Grandfather, he was most happy to be with family. He will be missed beyond words.
His funeral service will be held Monday, April 3, 2023 at 11am in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Rd., Lincoln. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashton. Visitation 9-11am.
