Rumford – Bruce E. Lancaster, 76, of Rumford and Delray Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully Monday, May 31, 2021 at Delray Medical Center, Delray Beach, Florida. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Gore) Lancaster. Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster were married 45 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Elmer and Ruth (Batty) Lancaster, he had lived in Rumford for the past 21 years and wintered in Delray Beach, Florida for the past 11 years ago.
Mr. Lancaster was a printer for the J. C. Hall Printing Company and later worked for the former Pawtucket Savings & Trust and the former Old Stone Bank.
Bruce was a 1962 graduate of St. George’s School in Middletown and attended Yale University. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he served for 21 years retiring as a Chief Petty Officer.
He was a member and Past Master of the former Unity Lodge #34, F. & A.M., Cumberland, which is now St. John’s Lodge #1, F. & A.M., Providence. He was a member of the Tall Cedars of Lebanon.
Bruce was a volunteer for the Muscular Dystrophy Association for 35 years.
He was an enthusiastic traveler, loved cruises, boating, and the beach.
Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by a brother-in-law, Frederick Gore of Lincoln; two nephews, Gregory and Brian Gore; and many cousins. He was the father of the late Bruce E. Lancaster, Jr. and Elizabeth M. Lancaster.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 8 at 11 A.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial, with military honors, will be in Riverside Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday 4-7 P.M. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held Monday at 6:30 P.M. at the Funeral Chapel.
