Bruce Anforth Obituary

Polk City, FL – Bruce W. Anforth, 70, of Polk City, FL and formerly of Warwick passed away Friday, June 26, 2019 in Lakeland, FL. He was the husband of Francine C. Velzis-Anforth. They shared their 24th wedding anniversary the day prior to his passing.

Born in Providence, a son of Virginia (Scales) Anforth of East Providence and the late Eric Anforth, he had lived in Warwick for over 30 years before moving to Florida 9 years ago.

Bruce loved to spend time with his family and loved to travel. He was always planning the next cruise or adventure. He enjoyed watching NASCAR, the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins. He was a caring father who instilled values to all his children. When his children were young, he coached Little League, volunteered with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts troop.  He was proud of his craftsmanship during any home projects, from adding a second floor to the house, to his detail when siding the house.  His skills were self-taught and meticulous.

Mr. Anforth was the facilities manager for Tedor in Cumberland before retiring. He previously had worked for Brown & Sharpe and Amgen. He had also owned the former Anforth Jewelers in North Providence.

He was a 22-year U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during Vietnam, Desert Storm and the Gulf War. He retired from the 143rd Air National Guard Quonset Point North Kingstown, RI.

Besides his wife and mother, he is survived by three sons, Aaron Anforth of Apache Junction, AZ, Derek Anforth of Sterling, CT, and Karl Anforth of Annapolis, MD; two stepchildren, Gina Fitzpatrick of Portsmouth and Kenneth Velzis of Cranston; one sister, Sharon Burrill of Pawtucket; six grandchildren; and several nephews. He was the father of the late Zachary Anforth.

His Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 1 P.M. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Military Honors will follow. For Directions and Guest Book, please visit www.bellowsfuneralchapel.com.
