Brandon Marien Obituary

North Smithfield – Brandon Paul Marien, 39, of North Smithfield passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 10, 2018. He was the beloved son of Paul A. and Jo-Ann (Desmarais) Marien of North Smithfield. He is also survived by his loving brothers, Garret P. Marien and Mariesa Oxford and their daughters, Ally and Bella, of Novato, CA and Jarrod P. Marien and Karen Levesque of Woonsocket; and his girlfriend, Tina Perry and her daughter, Laci of North Smithfield. Brandon also leaves his loving aunts and uncles, Jeanne and Fred Nesta, Robert Marien and Marcel Marien and Deborah; and his loving cousins, Danielle, Michael, Jen, Ashley and Tracy. He was the grandson of the late Rudolph and Cecile (Lariviere) Desmarais and the late Norman and Pauline (Nault) Marien. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Remy.

Brandon was born in Providence and had lived in North Smithfield for 30 years. He was a 1997 graduate of North Smithfield High School, where he was a well-known soccer player throughout his high school career. Following his graduation, he spent the summer of 1997 working at Finn’s Restaurant on Block Island and he enjoyed fishing.

Brandon was a passionate arborist and received his Arborist License from the University of Rhode Island. He started in the family tree business, Arbor Hills Tree Service in North Smithfield and worked for Charron Tree Service of Bellingham, MA. He had also worked for JR Landscaping, Northeastern Tree Service, Sepe Tree Service, North Smithfield Tree Service, East Coast Tree Works, and Cavedon Tree Service. He had also worked at the Coachman’s Lodge in Bellingham, MA.

He loved NASCAR racing, Patriots Games, 4-Wheeling, camping and canoeing with his family, and concerts. He was a Boy Scout and summered at Camp Yawgoog.

Brandon was a minimalist who lived simply. The happiest times in his life was spending time with his family, girlfriend, friends, and hugging a tree. One of his favorite enjoyments was “Meat Monday” at Kevin’s house with all his friends.

He was kind, generous, and thoughtful of others and those he worked with. He helped everyone.
