Pawtucket - Beth E. Agren, 75, formerly of Pawtucket and Rumford, died Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Emil F. and Lillian (Holt) Agren. She lived in Pawtucket and East Providence most of her life.
Beth is survived by two brothers, Donald Agren of Tennessee and his wife Angelia, Glen Agren of Virginia and his wife Sharon, and sister-in-law Kathleen Agren of Rumford, Rhode Island. Beth is survived by her large family including Jason and Alyssa Polofsky, Daniel and Jessica Agren, Brian and Rebekah Polofsky, Erica and Geraldo Perez, Michael and Ashley Agren, Joshua and Tracey Agren and many cousins, great nieces and nephews. Beth is preceded in death by her sister Dale Polofsky and brother Paul F. Agren.
Beth dedicated her life to serving her community, family, and friends. She worked as a certified nursing assistant at Memorial Hospital in Pawtucket, RI for fifty years until finally retiring in 2013.
Beth was a longtime member of Newman Congregational Church, Rumford, where she served as a deacon, usher, and member of the choir. She volunteered her time helping with bazaars and other events. Tirelessly working in the kitchen with mother Lillian perfecting Swedish coffee bread and the famous congo bars.
She was a lover of music, especially Neil Diamond and outdoor concerts. Family trips to Rocky Point for clamcakes and chowder. Frequent trips to Slater Park Zoo with nieces and nephews. Secret admirer of G rated movies on Sundays or perhaps a Creature Double Feature with a follow up trip to the famous Mr. Peanut for treats.
Beth devoted her life to the care of her father and mother. Beth cared for her ailing father allowing him the dignity, respect, and comfort to remain at home surrounded by family.
Beth enjoyed spending time with family at BBQs and holiday dinners followed by a competitive game of Uno. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary. Always sending a card and definitely a phone call, catching up on all the latest Tea (gossip).
A Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will be held Thursday, July 27th, at 1:00 p.m. in Newman Congregational Church, 100 Newman Avenue, Rumford. Private interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Rumford In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Mercy Chefs, 711 Washington St., Portsmouth, VA 23704 would be appreciated.
