Lincoln – Bertha D. (Oleska) Szlashta, 98, formerly of Franklin Street, died Sunday, October 4, 2020 at Grandview Center, Cumberland. She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick J. Szlashta, Sr.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Frank and Sophie (Nowak) Oleska, she had lived in Lincoln since the 1950’s, and summered for many years in the Rocky Point section of Warwick.
Mrs. Szlashta worked as a seamstress in the textile industry before, and later worked as a bus monitor for twenty years for the Town of Lincoln.
She loved spending time down the shore clamming and quahogging, was an avid baker, and enjoyed walking everywhere. She was a communicant of Saint Jude Church, Lincoln.
She is survived by her grandson, Patrick J. Szlashta III, and great-grandson, Samuel D. Szlashta, both of Lincoln; and two sisters, Helen Corredora and Pauline Sullivan. She was the mother of the late Patrick J. Szlashta, Jr., and sister of the late Josephine Cluin, Lucy Kwolek, Kathryn Alward and Tony Oleska.
Her funeral services will be private. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
