Alfred James Boulay, 75, of North Fort Myers, FL, formerly of Lincoln, RI, passed away on August 5, 2025.
Born August 30, 1949, in Central Falls, RI, Fred was the son of James and Annette (Dora Roy) Boulay. A proud graduate of Pawtucket Vocational High School, he was class president, valedictorian, and first man on the golf team. He later attended Johnson & Wales University.
Fred served honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1970, earning the rare distinction of both Shellback and Golden Shellback. His travels took him to the Middle East, the Taj Mahal, and his favorite-Seychelles Islands.
On June 24, 1972, Fred married Sharlene K. Fitzgerald at St. Jude's Church in Lincoln. They shared 53 wonderful years together.
Fred built a successful career in sales and was a licensed electrician. He was known for his competitive spirit, especially in golf, his lifelong passion. He played across New England, the U.S., and even Ireland, often with the beloved "A Train." He co-founded the US Junior Challenge Cup, supporting young RI golfers, and was a longtime member of Lincoln Country Club.
Fred also coached youth baseball and was a proud supporter of his sons Ryan and Brent's athletic pursuits. He was a devoted member of St. Jude's Church and St. Therese in North Fort Myers.
Fred was known for his humor, honesty, and big heart. He was predeceased by his cherished son Ryan, (wife Arestea (Karalis) Boulay), his parents, brother George, and in-laws James & Veronica Fitzgerald.
He is survived by his wife Sharlene, son Brent (Renee), sister Doris (Robert), grandchildren: Chase, Evan, and Ayden and many loving nieces, nephews.
A prayer service will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 6:00 PM in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
