A. Clinton Morris Obituary

Cumberland – A. Clinton Morris, 94, formerly of Mendon Road, died Monday, July 9, 2018, at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.  He was the beloved husband of the late Evelyn (Cayer) Morris.

Born in Cumberland, a son of the late Arthur and Mary (Hunter) Morris, he was a lifelong resident of the Berkeley section of town.

Mr. Morris was employed as a machine operator at Woodlawn Finishing Co., Pawtucket; as a photographer at Kenrow Photography, Cumberland; and as a courier for JED Industries, Cranston, retiring in 1988.

An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he served as a photographer in England with the “A” Squadron of the 8th Air Force.  He was a member and Past Commander of the Israel/Couture Post #2274, V.F.W, Cumberland, Past Commander of Rhode Island V.F.W. District 1; and the former secretary of the Cumberland Veterans Council.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Lincoln, where he served on the Board of Trustees.

He was an avid fan of football and baseball, and enjoyed bowling.  He also enjoyed taking care of his garden.

He is survived by one sister, Marilyn L. Blake of Thompson, Connecticut; his nieces, Beverly McDermott of Glocester, and MaryEllen Pontbriant of Burrillville; and his nephew, Brian Morris of Coventry. He was the brother of the late Francis R. Morris, and the uncle of the late Dr. Robert Blake.

His funeral will be celebrated Friday, July 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call prior to the service from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Wesley United Methodist Church Organ Fund, 55 Woodland Street, Lincoln, R.I. 02865 would be appreciated.
