Pawtucket - William “Bill” Pacelt, 96, a lifelong resident of Pawtucket, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Ellen I. (Wray) Pacelt for 72 years. Bill was the son of the late Paul and Lydia (Hirsch) Pacelt and brother to the late Arnold Pacelt.
Bill was a WWII veteran Tech Sergeant serving four years in the Army Air Corps. After returning, he worked for 41 years as a signal maintainer/trouble shooter for the NYNHH/Amtrak Railroad. Upon retirement Bill and Ellen wintered in Bonita Springs, FL.
Bill was a brother Mason at Jenks Lodge #24, F. & A.M., Pawtucket and Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence; as well as an avid camper with the Masonic NCT. He also served as President of the German-American Cultural Society and the Central Falls Masonic Home. Bill was an active participant in Park Place Congregational Church in Pawtucket.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his three daughters, Charlene P. Dundie, Daryl P. Prendergast and her husband Thomas, Lynn P. Usher and her husband Aaron; five granddaughters, Taylor and her husband Thomas, Skyler, Kaitlyn, Cali and her husband Joshua, and Alexandra; and one great-grandson, Jack.
Interment will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery after a private ceremony.
