Pawtucket – Urban “Ebby” B. Cordeiro, 74, of Pawtucket, died Friday, January 5, 2018, at home, surrounded by his loving family.   He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Berube) Cordeiro

Born in São Miguel, Azores, a son of the late José and Maria (Nunes) Cordeiro, he was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.

Mr. Cordeiro worked for Catalano Construction Co. of Cumberland before retiring in 2009.  Prior to Catalano, he worked for Curtis Sand & Gravel from 1967-1995.

Mr. Cordeiro was a coach and board member of the Pawtucket Youth Hockey League, a coach and board member of the Fairlawn Little League; member of the Pawtucket Ward 6 Democratic Committee, member of Laborers  Local 271.

Urban was a U.S. Army veteran and communicant of the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, North Providence.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Cordeiro, and his wife Debra, of Cranston; Michael Cordeiro, and his wife Jennifer, of Riverside; Brian Cordeiro, of Boston, MA.. Four sisters, Isaura DaCosta, of Lincoln; Laura Dauphinais, of Lincoln; Suzanna Chaput, of Pawtucket; Anna Cote, of Cumberland; six grandchildren, Brent Cheetham, Brendon Cordeiro, Ryan Cordeiro, Ethan Cordeiro, Madison Cordeiro and Carly Cordeiro.  He was the brother of the late Albert Cordeiro.

His funeral will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with the celebration of a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave, N. Providence. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Attleboro.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Wednesday January 10th, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of R.I., 1085 North Main Street, Providence, R.I. 02904 or American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd #3004, Warwick, RI 02886, would be appreciated.
