Cumberland – Theodore Zachadnyk, 88, of Sun Valley Drive, died Monday, October 23, 2017, surrounded by his loving family at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence.  He was the beloved husband of Helen (Brownridge) Zachadnyk.  Mr. & Mrs. Zachadnyk had been married for sixty years.

Born in Lincoln, a son of the late Theodore and Eva (Pahumski) Zachadnyk, he had lived in Cumberland for the past forty-eight years.

Mr. Zachadnyk was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Finance Corps.  After the war, he went to work for the former Industrial Machine Corporation, Smithfield, retiring in 1986 as the Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary.

He was an avid patron of the arts, and enjoyed attending shows of the R.I. Philharmonic and P.P.A.C.  He loved painting, and would often paint random flowers and trees throughout his home.  He was a true “Renaissance Man”, and was known by his calling card of leaving pussywillows, or placing scotch tape on someone’s desk to let them know he had stopped by.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Amalie Kear of Cumberland; his son, Ethan Brownridge Zachadnyk of La Jolla, California; three sisters, Olga Despres of Smithfield, Irene Roe of Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, and Vera Susan Zachadnyk of Lincoln; two grandchildren, Britnay Maegan Tuetken, and her husband Andrew, and Courtney Kear-Gagnon, and her husband Steven; four great grandchildren, Emma Mae Tuetken, Hannah Doris Tuetken, Joseph Theodore Gagnon and Steven John Gagnon.  He was the brother of the late Taras Zachadnyk, Mary Zachadnyk, Myrtle Riel and Anne Weller.

His funeral service will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.  Burial, with military honors, will follow in Arnold Mills Cemetery, Cumberland.  Relatives and friends are invited, and may call prior to the service from 12 Noon – 1:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Cumberland Library Fund, 1464 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, R.I. 02864 would be appreciated.
