Cranston – Ruth E. (Massey) Bury, 100, of Greenwood Street, died Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Leonard Bury.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Harry and Delia (Fanning) Massey, she had lived in Lincoln for most of her life, and had lived in Attleboro, Mass., moving to Cranston ten years ago.
Mrs. Bury worked as a secretary for Donald J. Fournier Home Improvements, the Credit Reporting Bureau in Attleboro, and the Gracious Living Catalog Co., and was the former owner of the Lincoln Laundromat.
A sixty-five year member of Lime Rock Baptist Church, she had served as a Deacon, a Sunday School Teacher, was Past President of the Penetralia Guild, and Past Chairperson of the Finance Committee, and was a beginning key member of the Lime Rock Food Pantry. She was a member of the R.I. Sound Chapter of the Women’s Barbershop Chorus of Harmony, Inc, and a member of the Lime Rockers and of U.S. English, and was a devout Republican.
She is survived by her son, Bruce Bury, and his wife Joann, of Cranston; two grandsons; and four great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Harry E. Massey, Herbert Massey, and Raymond Massey.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Lime Rock Baptist Church, 1075 Great Road, Lincoln. Burial will follow in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Monday, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the Lime Rock Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 1075 Great Road, Lincoln, R.I. 02865 would be appreciated.
