Rene was a special person. I served with him up to recently on the Lincoln Water Commission where he was an involved and dedicated public servant. Even when he wasn't feeling well, he always did his best and was an important member of the Commission. He and I became good friends and sat next to each other at the meetings. I would usually ask his opinion on any given issue before making any decisions. I'll miss my friend.
