Wayne, Michigan – Raymond E. Goucher, 81, formerly of Lincoln, R.I., died Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Rochester General Hospital, Rochester, New York.
Born in Lincoln, a son of the late Charles E. Goucher, Jr. and Helen (Elliott) Goucher, he had lived in Michigan for over fifty years.
Mr. Goucher was responsible for setting up the Ann Arbor, Michigan office of Math Reviews, part of the American Mathematical Society and was the Founding Executive Director of the TeX Users Group in Providence, RI.
An Army veteran, he served twenty-eight years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He was active in scouting, and was the first Eagle Scout from Troop #2 Lonsdale, and served as a scoutmaster at Camp Yawgoog. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Michigan.
He is survived by one daughter, Deborah Hosie of Tacoma, Washington; one son, David M. Goucher of Woonsocket; one sister, Karen Butler of West Hyannisport, Massachusetts; one brother, Kenneth Goucher of East Providence; and one granddaughter Rachel McElroy. He was the brother of the late Barbara Perry, Charles “Paul” Goucher and David Goucher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial, with military honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited. Arrangements with Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln.
