Norman C. Sauté
February 20, 1926 ~ January 10, 2018 (age 91) 91 Years OldCumberland – Norman Camille Sauté, 91, of Valley Stream Drive, died Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville. He was the beloved husband of Ann R. Brown Sauté and the late Dorothea Carolyn (Armstrong) Sauté.
Born in West Warwick, a son of the late Camille T. and Lea E. (Goffinet) Sauté, he had lived in North Scituate for many years, before living in Lincoln and moving to Cumberland ten years ago.
Mr. Sauté was the owner of the former Sauté Pharmacy of Providence and Scituate and was the owner of S&S Cosmetic Distributors, before retiring. He was a graduate of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy and Allied Sciences (now the College of Pharmacy at the University of Rhode Island), Class of 1949.
A 50-year Rotarian, he was a former member of the Scituate Rotary Club, where he was a founder and past president, and a member of the Cumberland-Lincoln Rotary Club. He served on numerous district committees and was a Paul Harris Fellow. In 2012 he was awarded with the Dr. Percy Hodgson Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement for exceptional service to Rotary Organization by Rotary District 7950.
He was a member of American Legion Post #19, Scituate, a member of the International Biscuit Burners’ Association, and was a trumpet player in many local community orchestras.
A U.S. Navy Veteran, he served as a Pharmacist’s Mate during World War II
He is survived by one daughter, Lea W. Steibel of Valencia, PA; three sons, Robert B. Sauté of New York, NY, N. Calvin Sauté of Fort Worth, TX, and Jonathan “Jon” Sauté of Cleveland Heights, OH; one brother, Robert E. Sauté of Northridge, CA; nine grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, 3655 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Military honors will follow. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted, and his burial will be private.
