Mildred M. (Whalen) Ricard

Manville – Mildred M. (Whalen) Ricard, 86, of Rutland Street, died Thursday, September 14, 2017, at the Holiday Retirement Home, Manville.  She was the wife of the late Maurice L. Ricard, who died on August 25th.

Born in Manville, a daughter of the late Leo and Marie Rose (Houle) Whalen, she had been a lifelong resident of Manville, and summered for many years in Cedar Tree Point, Warwick.

Mrs. Ricard worked as an office manager for Leo Ricard & Sons Roofing, and for MPM Realty, Manville.  She was the former owner of Premier Salon, Albion.

She was a member of the D.A.V. Women’s Auxiliary and the Emblem Club #27, both of Woonsocket, and the Women’s Auxiliary of the Alphonse Yelle Post #9, American Legion, Manville.  She was a communicant of Saint James Church, Manville.

She is survived by one sister, Dorothy Desjardins of Cumberland.  She was the mother of the late Patrick M. Ricard, and the sister of the late Leroy Whalen and Bernard Whalen.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in Saint James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville.  Burial will follow in Saint James Cemetery, Manville.  Relatives and friends are invited.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to Saint James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville, R.I. 02838, or to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, 2900 N.
