Madeline F. (Hobbs) Caldwell

Cumberland – Madeline F. (Hobbs) Caldwell, 89, of Thomas Leighton Boulevard, died peacefully December 28, 2017, at home, surrounded by her loving family.  She was the beloved wife of William J. Caldwell, and the wife of the late William H. Higgins.  Mr. & Mrs. Caldwell had been married for thirty-three years.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Lemuel C. and Frances (Bernard) Hobbs, she had lived in Cumberland for the past fifty-seven years.

Mrs. Caldwell worked in the Service Department for A.T. Cross, retiring in 1993.

She was an active member of Four Corners Community Chapel, where she served as a deacon, was a member of the Quilters Guild and sang in the choir.  She was a former member of the Pawtucket Women’s Club and the Norwood Grange.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Susan Bostian of California, Nancy Pelletier of Cumberland, and Madelyn Jean Higgins-Cinieri of Cumberland; two stepsons, Scott A. Caldwell of Cumberland, and Glen C. Caldwell of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.; eight grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

A Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will be celebrated Friday, January 5, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in Four Corners Community Chapel, 200 Angell Road, Cumberland.  Relatives and friends are invited.  Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to Four Corners Community Chapel, P.O.
