Cumberland – Jane A. (Nichols) Leary, 88, of Cumberland, died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late David E. Leary.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late George and Genevieve (Carter) Nichols, she had lived in Cumberland for the past fifty-two years.
Mrs. Leary worked as an assembly worker at A. T. Cross and as a quality inspector for Tupperware before retiring. She was a graduate of Bay View Academy.
She is survived by four daughters, Susan Duguay, and her husband Ben, of Cumberland, Paula Tweedie, and her husband Barry, of Pensacola, Florida, Carol Leary, and her companion Peter Hoffman, of Berlin, Massachusetts, and Elizabeth Leary, and her companion Jason Thurber, of Lincoln; one son, Michael D. Leary, and his wife Virginia, of Woonsocket; one sister, Jean Fagan of Roswell, Georgia; her companion, Paul Zadie of Mashpee, Massachusetts; her sister-in-law, Ellie Nichols; seven grandchildren, Ryan Duguay, Kyle Duguay, Willie Landry, Megan Leary, Amber Leary, Cody Phillips and Kayla Piggott; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joan Young and George Nichols.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Historic Saint Joseph Church, 1303 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Private burial will take place in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, Massachusetts, at a later date.
