Hrant H. Shoushanian, of Scituate, RI passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 3, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Ellen May (Glew) Shoushanian with whom he celebrated 48 years of marriage.
Born in Jerusalem in 1936, son of the late Abraham K. and Zarouhi (Halvadjian) Shoushanian, he immigrated to the United States in 1954 to attend the University of Rhode Island to study Chemistry.
Hrant began his career at Technic Inc. in 1959 and was promoted to Chief Chemist in 1963. He was named Vice President in 1967, Executive Vice President in 1981 and President in 1986. He was elected and served as national president of the American Electroplaters Society from 1985 to 1986. Hrant continued working and remained president of Technic Inc. until his passing.
Hrant leaves behind two daughters: Randy Perry and her husband Thomas of Foxborough, MA; and Robin Porter and her husband Jason of Needham, MA. He was also the cherished and proud Papa of four grandchildren, Mac, Faith, Ethan and TJ. Hrant was the caring brother of Araxie Shoushanian of Cranston, RI and Sue Bailey of Gilmanton, NH.
Hrant was a thoughtful, generous and humble man. He was widely admired and respected by all who knew him and greatly loved and adored by his family. Hrant loved Technic and working outdoors. His greatest love and priority was always his family and he will be incredibly missed.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, RI. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Hrant’s life on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in Bellows Funeral Chapel. His burial in Swan Point Cemetery will be private.
