Henry Roth Obituary

Charlestown – Henry F. Roth, 69, of Charlestown passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 13, 2018. A surprising diagnosis of pancreatic cancer in 2017 put Henry in almost a two year fierce battle against this cancer, pursuing every possible cure. He was the beloved husband of Nancy E. (Treiber) Roth.

Born in The Bronx, New York on July 19, 1949, he was the son of the late Charles “Willie” and Bertha (Mechling) Roth. Henry attended PS16 and PS133. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School, Mount Vernon, NY. He attended the University of Buffalo until the death of his father. Henry transferred to St. John’s University to help with family expenses. Henry graduated from St. John’s and secured a job in sales with a local New Rochelle roofing company. He worked in roofing his whole career, eventually having his own business, R & M, in Westchester County, NY. Some of his other jobs while earning college money included the night shift at the World’s Fair, and in the 1990’s working at the Pershing Square Restaurant (Sportsmen’s Lunch), 304 North Avenue, New Rochelle, NY. He was predeceased by his brothers, Arthur (Erna) and Douglas (Audrey), and his sister, June.

Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his cherished children, Chad Roth (Julie) of Fishkill, NY and Kelly Aviles (Javier) of Connecticut; and his treasured grandchildren, Nicholas and Courtney Roth, and Hunter Aviles. He will be missed by his Brussels Griffons, Sophie, Teddy and Peggysue. These fur babies made sure he was kept warm at night and entertained during the day.

As per Henry’s request, there will be no funeral services and arrangements will be private. Henry (and his wife) wanted a special acknowledgement to thank the doctors and the staff of both South County Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital Cancer Departments for their never ending caring.
