Florence Marilyn Cox Obituary

Lincoln – Florence Marilyn (Northcott) Cox, 96, of Vienna, VA and formerly of Lincoln and Cumberland, passed away peacefully at the Capital Caring Hospice Center in Arlington, VA. She had lived with her daughter in Vienna, VA for the past 14 years. Mrs. Cox was the only child of the late Robert Charles and Lillian (Turner) Northcott.

A graduate of Brown University (Pembroke) ’42 (BA) and Rhode Island College ’60 (MA), she was a teacher at Scott Elementary School in the Warwick School System for nineteen years and owned Bay View Realty Company in Jamestown.

She lived a long, immensely successful life. She earned the respect and love of all who knew her. She enriched countless lives, both professionally and personally. She was a woman of deep faith, a beacon of kindness, love, and devotion to light and guide our lives. We were so blessed to have had her as the matriarch of our family and the heart of our home.

Florence was involved in many organizations in her life in Rhode Island before moving to Virginia at the age of 83. She was very active in the Blackstone Valley Historical Society and Learning for Life. She was the secretary of her class at Brown (Pembroke) and a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Education Society. She was a member and Sunday school teacher of the Arnold Mills United Methodist Church in Cumberland, a Ballou Home Volunteer Aide, and a member of the Community-Ites.

Florence was the paternal granddaughter of the late Charles Henry and Jane Mooney (McCulloch) Northcott and the maternal granddaughter of the late John Davis and Mary Anne Jennings (Robinson) Turner.

She leaves her children, Judith (Zeine) Boott and her husband Robert, Nanci Zeine and her husband Roger, Robert Zeine and his wife Donna, and Marybeth (Cox) Elliott and her husband Lee; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Lindsay (Boott) Walsh, and Elizabeth Boott, Jennifer (Zeine) Blanchard and her husband Fred, Sarah and Christopher Zeine, and Mark, Daniel and David Elliott; and her great grandchildren, Jackson and Addison Boott, Brody and Carson Blanchard, and Carter and Grayson Walsh.
