Cumberland – Dorothy E. (Leach) Corry, 83, of Shirley Drive, died Sunday, December 29, 2019 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Robert D. Corry. Mr. & Mrs. Corry had been married for fifty-seven years.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late James M. and Mildred (Slocum) Leach, she had lived in Cumberland for over fifty years.
Mrs. Corry worked as a purchasing agent at Peterson Puritan Co., later C.C.L, Cumberland before retiring.
She was a member of the Cumberland Garden Club; loved golf and played in numerous leagues at Chemawa Golf Club; but was most known for ballroom dancing. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cumberland.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two sons, Jay D. Corry, and his wife Amy-Beth, of Richmond, and James C. Corry of Sherman, Connecticut; one sister, MaryAnn Soave of Greenville; three brothers, William Leach of South Attleboro, Massachusetts, James Leach of Cumberland, and Robert Leach of Largo, Florida; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth Corry, Molly Corry, and Sam Corry. She was the sister of the late Donald Leach, Betty Cassidy and Mildred Johnson.
Her Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Friday, January 3, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. in Emmanuel Episcopal Church, 120 Nate Whipple Highway, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are invited, and may call Thursday, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Private burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to the ALS Association of R.I. 2374 Post Rd #103, Warwick, RI 02886, or to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of R.I., 1085 North Main Street, Providence, R.I. 02904 would be appreciated.
