Dona Vincent Obituary

Scituate - Dona L. (Hood) Vincent, 69, of North Scituate died July 26, 2018 at Brigham & Woman’s Hospital.  Born in Detroit MI and raised in Pawtucket, RI. Daughter of the late Donald and Adaline (Addie) Hood.  Dona is survived by her sister Marcia Hood of Kingston, MA, her brother and sister-in-law Gary and Laura Hood of Smithfield, RI and brother and sister-in-law Douglas and Claire Hood of Blackstone, MA.  Dona also leaves behind a niece Kristen and her husband Greg Amend of Roxbury, NH and niece Nissa Hood of Blackstone MA and two beautiful great-nephews Tytus and Vincent Amend.

A graduate of Bentley College and the co-founder of Tedco Inc. located in Cranston RI, a metal stamping company founded in 1980.  Dona became President/CFO in 2010.  She supported Tedco’s growth and development thru several quality and management programs, including those that lead to obtaining ISO certification.   Under her leadership, Tedco actively supported many local companies and shared with them the company’s best manufacturing practices.  She lived according to the values developed for Tedco “respect, integrity, transparency, flexibility and fun!”

Dona devoted her time and leadership skills to several local and national trade associations.  She was instrumental in the development of the MECHTECH apprenticeship program for machinists and toolmakers.  Dona served on the National Tooling & Machine Associations (NTMA) Board of Directors and as President for the local NTMA chapter. The Precision Metal Forming Association (PMA) nurtured her professional development, networking and training over the years.  PolarisMEP was a key sponsor for several of Dona’s favorite programs including the Innovation Challenge and Family Consortium for small businesses. The RI Manufacturers’ Association (RIMA) also strongly supported her development and efforts.  Within these organizations, Dona developed valued business partners and several deep friendships that lasted a lifetime.

Her professional contributions to Rhode Island’s manufacturing community were many, and they were always presented with style and grace.  In 2017, Dona completed the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program, a competitive program administered at the Community College of Rhode Island.  Training and development were Dona’s goals and as she would often say, “keep moving forward.”  Dona was also devoted to her other passions including shared martinis with friends, gardening, cooking, traveling, reading, and her beautiful schnauzer JB and blue-eye cat Crimi.   Rest in peace.
