Lincoln – Adib M. Mechrefe, MD, 76, of Lincoln passed away Monday, July 30, 2018 at Miriam Hospital, Providence surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary (Freij) Mechrefe.
Born in Damascus, Syria, a son of the late Mtanios and Wahebah (Wehbeh) Mechrefe, he had lived in Lincoln for the past 42 years.
Dr. Mechrefe devoted his life to taking care of others. He was a General Surgeon and Emergency Medicine Specialist who owned Garden City Treatment Center in Cranston, the only privately owned Emergency Room licensed by the RI Department of Health, since 1986. Over his extensive 49 year medical career, Dr. Mechrefe was responsible for treating over 1 million patients. He was well loved by all those he encountered in his medical community.
Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his loving children: Anthony Mechrefe and his wife Etienne, Tanya Gaudioso and her husband Jonathan and Tara Cavanagh and her husband Robert, all of Lincoln; his dear grandchildren, Yasmine, Lillia, Anthony, Jordan, Samara, Jack, Charles, Henry and Vivian. He is s also survived by his sisters and brother: Nadia Kaskas, Dalal Khoury and Fayez Mechrefe. He was the father of the late Toufic and Susan Mechrefe and the brother of the late Issa Mechrefe.
His visitation will be held Saturday, August 4 from 9-11 AM followed by services at 11 AM in St. Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 249 High Street, Pawtucket. His burial will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pawtucket.
