Lincoln - Zeno Trabucchi, known to friends and strangers as simply Zeno, died Wednesday, in Providence, RI. He was 80 years old.
Zeno spent his childhood in Verona, Italy, one of nine children. After university in the United States and jobs in Milan and Rome, he found himself in Paris, where he wooed and won his wife of 51 years, Gylean.
In the 1960s, the pair immigrated to New York City, where their daughter Chiara and son Mark were born, and ultimately settled in Rhode Island, where daughter Sarah joined them. Zeno was deeply proud of his family, including daughter-in-law Denise and son-in-law Eric, and was never more happy than when grandson Christopher and granddaughter Victoria were born.
A man driven by life, Zeno loved good food and good wine (always Italian) and good people (always made honorary Italians). With a twinkle in his eye, he won hearts with his sometimes silly, sometimes outrageous, always incomparable character; he was one-of-a-kind.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. in Saint Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Burial will be private, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or hopehospiceri.org. Zeno would request that, in his memory, friends forgo bread plates at their next meal.
